That I May Dwell Among Them
Ex. 25:8 And let them make a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.
God wants to dwell among the Israelites, and he even says this was the reason for the Exodus:
“I will dwell among the children of Israel and will be their God, and they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.” (Ex. 29:45-46)
God wants to make his presence known to us and be intimate with us (Gal. 4:9, Gen. 18:19 NKJV). He wants to be present with us. The Bible shows us as a pattern that God wants to be present among his people when he finds it wise to do so, but he chose not to when sinful souls would not hold respect for his presence; hence, the first element in faith being “the fear of the Lord,” whereby he can wisely work among us.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14)
